Vernon, 2 tips for you old boy.
1. DQ stands for Dairy Queen, and they do some lovely ice-cream notably a Blizzard. You will come across many on your trip.
2. When you reach Whitefish, Montana . Around about Day 13 ish Look up Chuck Sterns and Rita Braun who are on the Warmshowers.org website. They can provide somewhere to pitch a tent in their garden. They are a lovely couple and I stayed with them for 2 nights on my NT. Rita also recommended me to her massage therapist who is a lovely young lady and I partook of my first ever massage. It was heaven, a highlight of the tour. Olivia Stark 244 Spokane Ave, Whitefish 406-249-2279 appointment required.
Have a good tour.

This is a serious thought: if after you get home, why don't you have a pie and pint evening in a local hall where you talk about your journey, show piccies and have a Q&A session?
There might be some mild piss taking and banter/joshing around with your CC bretheren, but I'm sure there are enough interested folk who would travel to Meanwood to hear about your trip. A Friday evening, perhaps.

True enough. I just happen to have been in close proximity to Vernon - 'the pie Dyson' Levy, hoovering up comestibles - and singular and 'portion control' are but whimsical flavourings on the potato crisps of life...Well, yeah, I assume you only want to eat and drink one of the same pie and pint, when there are plenty of others to go for.
It would be nice to see our correspondent enter one of those 'take on the chef's special' contests on US Food channel or whatever that programme is, to accompany the unbridled athleticism of the main task.

I also have an eating reputation to boast of, although not since my younger days (but as Botham said: form is temporary, class is permanent
).I was school-dinner eating champion in the 6th form - I won by half a pudding, and also cream cracker competition: 15 in 10 minutes, IIRC.
Plus demonstrations of pizza annihilation, double curries and triple Chinese, to name but a few.

Lightweight.
On one memorable day as an undergraduate, I qualified for DREGS - drunken regular engineers gallon society, ate three curries and seventeen chapatties - I have yet to equal this, ate a chinese takeaway on the way home and stalled on the fish and chips as a night cap.
It was more memorable for my housemates. They had to cope with the fall out the next morning.
