One week to go,and i have nothing on my list, aged nearly 76,i don't want anything.i was thinking about a small bottle of whisky, but not sure how my stomach would react, strange ideas pop in to my head about reactions to my remission.Just yesterday one of the bar staff noted how i was not drinking a lot at the party,as i had just ordered my second cola of the day.So i hope all of you have a belting Christmas.

My partner and I could not decide what to get each other, again, so we've just bought ourselves a small treat for £20 odd. We also did not know what to get anyone else, as most of my relatives are older and have everything they want/need to begin with! My parents are moving house soon so we have just chipped in for an envelope of cash so they can buy things for the new house.

My partner was just saying how depressing it is now the kids are older and you are now sort of just giving them money/vouchers as they're too old for toys! Also hard to buy for my family because my mum is gluten free and dairy free, as is my sister. My Bro-in-law doesn't have a sense of smell so smellies are out!

Our kids get money - a fair chunk to help mitigate some IHT.

The grandkids get a much smaller amount of cash.

The great-grandkids get a still smaller amount of cash.

No parents left for the two of us plus siblings reciprocally don't bother by agreement.

This year; we can't think of a single thing to buy each other apart from a box of piggy chocolates each to open on the 25th.

No excitement left in this Xmas malarkey as you get older - although we usually have a nice romantic day; just the two of us with no hosting obligations. Bliss!
