I've used SJS Cycles a couple of times and have had no problems. Good prices, good kit and good service. They certainly make an effort with enquiries. I fired an email off to them about a new shifter for my sons bike and the reply hit my inbox at 23:34 on a Sunday evening! How keen?

Tredz might be the Welsh shop.
Problem with online shops is you can't buy Trek bikes generally as they have blocked sale of bikes
unless fully assembled.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Terrific service from Dotbike this week - order placed around 15.20, email confirming order 15.35, email advising despatch 15.38. Delivered first post around 10.30 next day! Free postage too!

I have always been very happy with the online service from the Edinburgh Bike Co-0P, used Wiggle a fair few times, no issues. Not heard good things about Rutland, but I have never used them myself.

Chainreaction, Spa Cycles, SJS Cycles, all great service and quick delivery, so I go for best price inc.postage (Chainreaction has none)

I ordered two tyres and a wind jacket from Wiggle yesterday morning, using mobile broadband in a hotel many miles from home whilst eating breakfast.

Returned south and returned from work today to find my delivery.

Great service, and just proves why I love shopping from internet retailers who are on the ball.

Why not support one of the Southampton shops. The Hub in Shirley are a very good independant, there is also Cycle World in Thornhill or Hargroves Cycles in Millbrook - for the sake of a Red Jet fare plus a short walk you could get an actual feel for the bike?

Wiggle are brilliant - see my previous threads on replacing a bike that had a fault - gave me an upgrade.

Their delivery at the moment is brilliant - I normally order something each week (from pennies to £££) and they are currently getting stuff to me inside 2-days.

I rarely end up going anywhere else as their prices are great as well.

Quite dreadful
I use Chain Reaction and Wiggle to buy stuff. Wiggle were very good when I had a problem with a faintly defective waterproof jacket, even after nine months. Wiggle gets a big vote.

slower but no further
Chain Reaction is always my first stop for bits. Usually the cheapest and fastest. Only shop elsewhere for stuff they don't have. Good service from Parker, Wiggle and even Evans!

I have dealt with some small setups - one was (according to Streetview) operated out of a council house in Aberystwyth but they turned out fine. Trouble is small companies lack the tracking so you have no idea how long to wait before worrying. But to be honest I have never been let down. Just Google first. Bad boys tend to show up like a beacon.

Ebay is ideal for specialist parts (as on old 'imperial' bikes) which will not be stocked by the fast turnover online retailers.

Order through a cashback site when ordering from Wiggle, Chainreaction, Cycles UK, AW Cycles, Buy Buy Bicycles and get a percentage of the cost back.
This can tip the balance when buying.

Look at Quidco.com and Topcashback.com for two of the best.

I have had over £1,500 back so far; use a money back credit card to pay for the purchase for even more cashback!
