What exactly can a vegetarian eat? I understand a vegan I chef at a Japanese restaurant (no names involved), and one of the dishes we make is cooked with an in house sauce recipe which largely contains a pork sauce? Is that allowed?
No. I also love that there is normally a vegi version of chow mein at the Chinese, main ingredients being oyster sauce and fish sauce.

I like to upset veggies by pointing out that their beer has usually used animal based finings ^_^

Is that very common still? I didn't think isinglass was used too much these days.

why are you giving up meat then?
I have ethical, environmental and economical reasons, local and global. Meat consumption simply isn't sustainable.

Just remember that after a hard day in the saddle you won't be allowed to get ripped into something like this: :hungry:

Finally decided to give vegetarianism a go. Let's keep piggies happy.

Good for you. Be prepared for the grief you're going to get.

Being a veggie is a bit like being a cyclist. People will hate you just for this very reason.

The irony is, many veggie haters will sit and rant at you endlessly about how veggies constantly preach, are sanctimonious etc if you just happen to mention it.

I've been a awkward vegetarian since 1996. I've never had a positive reaction to this information!

Fair dos. If you're not familiar with soaking/sprouting/fermenting have a look. A lot of plant based protein sources are protected by the plant against you. Heavily processed food is still not great for you even if it's vegetarian. I won't take the post on a pro fat tangent but cold pressed coconut oil is good for fat and doesn't oxidize at pan frying temperatures like other vegetable oils can do. As always food closest to its natural state is best.
