Hello all.

Yesterday I took delivery of a lovely On-One Pompino.
It was on offer on their website as it had been used in the showroom. It was my size frame, matt raw finish and £150 off! It had to be mine! :-D

I would just like people's opinion on this marking on the rear of the frame. It's the only real point of (mild) concern for me. Is that rust? Another form of corrosion? (Hey now, hey now now...) Please excuse my metallurgical ignorance :-)

How would you deal with... whatever it is? How to remove?

Many thanks for looking!

More questions than answers! As others have said it looks like a patch of surface rust and should be easy to sort out. Whats puzzling me is why? Its an unusual place to get a patch of rust, I could understand it on the side, shoe rub perhaps, or the underside, perhaps starting off with a stone chip.

You chaps are awesome! Thank you so much!
I wasn't told about the rust but it may have been in one of the photos and iI didn't notice it.
I can't be arsed to send it back (and am already rather smitten) so will do as you have all suggested.
It was purely a clearance bike on the website. There wasn't much of a description to be honest. Mainly pics.
Although I am comfortable doing my own bike tinkering, this frame rust isn't something I've dealt with before so I really appreciate the quick and knowledgeable responses. Thanks again!

Question - relaquering... What product is used for that..?
I have model kit varnishes but I'm guessing it's different from that.

T-cut might remove the surface rust but it looks like the painters might have missed that patch when they lacquered the bike, wet and dry will take it to bare metal and remove any pitting caused by the rust, then clear coat and a protector will stop it coming back.
