Silly me. Did my usual lunchtime spin today ('cos it wasn't raining - first time in days) on circuit that crosses upper reaches of River Adur at one point. Puddle across road seemed quite extensive, but I thought, wtf, go for it! Soon the water was up to my hubs but by now I was committed.... :eek:.

Result: feet, shoes, and socks utterly sodden. No spare socks anywhere at work, so had to wring them out as best I could in the loo. And worrying squeak coming from front hub. Will try to force some oil into it, hope to drive out whatever water has got in there. I hope I don't have to dismantle the hub :cry:

A cyclist was riding through the countryside on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, having a lovely time, when he came to an area of the road that was covered with a rather large puddle of water from a previous rain storm. Worried that he was going to damage the his bike in the deep water, he asked a local farmer (who just happened to be standing near the large pool of water) how deep the water was. "Arr", said the local farmer "That water only be a few inches deep!" Relieved, the cyclist edged his bike into the water, expecting to come out the other side in no time. Instead, as he rode in, the water came right up to the handlebars. Sitting there in the water along cyclist yelled at the local angrily: "I thought you said this water was only a few inches deep!!!" "Well", replied the local farmer "It only come up to the waist of them there ducks!"

As far as yours truly is concerned, I think the prospect of this is too horrible to even contemplate :eek:!

Surely not...

The other day, the boss and I both had wet feet and wet gloves after a morning out in the squally rain. "Never mind", he said, as we headed back for lunch, "Soon we can get inside and get our clothes off..."

<Pause>

"I didn't mean it quite like that...."

Where was th\t down near to wineham or twinham, can flood bad there

Not quite: I know the place you mean, yes another place where you need to watch for floods. I was here, if you're interested, a notorious lane for flooding although usually only deep enough to give my tyres and rims a rinse... I can assure you, it looked nothing like the Google picture on Tuesday, although even when Google visited you can see puddles on the road...

I know that place now have cycled it a few times, but never seen flooded. But the Adur does shift some water when its angry:-)
