After a week off of the bike, owing to work and a few splendid days walking in the Lake District with my missus, I managed to grab a cheeky hour to myself this afternoon after work and got out on the MTB.

Nipped out for a little 5 miler around our local woods - just before it got too dark to be fun. God, it felt good. Love my road bike - but love my MTB, too. Actually, I've realised that I just love my bikes - and cycling.

I think all the walking up steep hills has helped, too - the uphill sections felt just a little easier. And the little trip out this evening gave me the chance to test the new Cateye lights I picked up from a Bike Treks in Ambleside. We like those.

Right - early finish tomorrow and out on the road bike methinks.

Sorry - just had to share that. That's the thing about cycling - doesn't it make you feel good.

Cheers.

Ian.

Grrr, I'm in Africa on a 2 week trip, haven't been on the bike for about 16 days now. It's amazing how fast the weight piles on even if you're not eating carbs.
