This morning cycling south down the A34 towards the Parrswood junction a "Magic" bus came so close to me that the bus actually touched my rucksack and shoulder (albeit quite softly). The bus then proceeded to accelerate madly and go through a red light. I caught part of the bus number 1675 something, part of the reg and the fact it was number 000 not in service

Imagine my delight when I saw the bus parked up on the side of the road 2 junctions down. The driver was reading the paper which incensed me even more (why was he rushing) and I knocked on the window of the bus and asked why he was driving like that and why did he endanger my life for the sake of a couple more minutes reading the paper.

The driver protested his innocence (I've been here 10 mins guv!!) and after threatening to send the video to head office I cycled off.

Imagine my shock when coming to the Parrswood bus interchange I saw another Magic Bus, almost the same reg, also 000 not in service but number 16755.

I then realised I had berated the wrong driver, what an idiot.

So apologies to the driver of bus 16757 I was well out of order but you've only got your "friend" in bus 16757 to blame.

I really need to calm down more in the mornings.

So did you manage to have a go at the right driver ?

No I didn't Parrswood is a complicated busy junction and by the time I realised my mistake it was to late. But to be honest I was too embarrassed about the whole thing by then.

I did e-mail Stagecoach to apologise to the driver in question but also to point out the bad driving that led to the incident.

If past form is anything to go by they will respond quite quickly saying they are looking into it and will come back to me if they have any questions (which they never do).

Well to give them their due they have got back in touch with me and said

"As I have previously explained to you, we do invest heavily in our staff to ensure that they are trained to a high standard and because of the information you have supplied to us, we should be able to identify the driver concerned and take the issue up with him and also take the appropriate remedial action within our company procedures over this incident.

With regards to the issue of mistaken identity, likewise, we will trace the driver and pass on your aplogies."

So kudos to them for replying, however do you think they will actually do anything or do you think they just file it under w for whingers?

LOL!!!

i had this happen to me with a local coach company. I didn't get the wrong driver but i did hold up the traffic while i stood in the road berating (screaming at) the driver for being such a f*ckwit that he felt he could give me no room even though it was on a wide long dual carriageway which he couldn't fail to see me on. He had a coach load full of school kids at the time.

I left after telling him i was goiing to report him to his company. Needless to say when he passed me on a single carriageway a mile down the road, he gave me a very wide birth, and has done so since.

I didn't bother to complain because i reckoned having an hysterical woman screaming and shouting at you in front of all the kids was punishment enough ;)

probably not - a colleague of mine one worked at a back where the (computerised) customer records had a field called abc-ind, meaning awkward bloody customer indicator. When the data protection act came about they had to remove this field from all the records in case a customer asked what it meant.
