... I've just bought a Citroen 2CV on ebay. I used to love these cars, then my last one died about six years ago and my head was turned by old Volvos and such like. Now I've decided I needed something cheap and cheerful, so I've gone back to the world of the upside down pram powered by a sewing machine. And I'm really excited about it.

Congratulations!

At some stage I will become the owner of a 2CV again. I had so much fun with the one that I owned for five years before selling it on as it was rather cramped with two child seats in the back.

Mine was destroyed in the 1987 hurricane, (the wind blew off the bonnet, taking the underside of the winscreen with it)

I've never been a vegetarian. And I used to have a sticker on the back of my 2CV van ... something like "Don't let the car fool you ... I'm not a hippy. In fact, I enjoy violence!"

Well done!

Not quite the same, but my Dad used to love old VW Beetles and had three in succession. He drove each one till it fell apart - as they used to, back in the day(before health and safety - NCAP;)).

I' m currently looking at Beetles!

Back in the 80's a mate of mine was given a 2CV/Diane. What a laugh that was, try as we might we couldn't get it to roll on corners, how it stayed upright on those skinny wheels was either Gallic engineering at its finest or blind luck. It also had a radio which seemed to get louder the faster you went, to cover the straining engine noise.
I remember one time we were at traffic lights on an incline. The handbrake resembled a walking stick poking out of the dash. When the lights turned green my mate yanked the handrake off; - literally, the handle pulled right out of the dash with the cable dangling from it. The traffic being held up behind us didn't find it as hilarious as we did, surprisingly.
