Cycles UK opened a new store in Orpington yesterday. Oscar Pereiro was there as a promo. He won the TdF in 2008, when Landis was disqualified.

Had a chat, he seemed a good sort. He now plays Div2 soccer in Spain.

Good discount for the day on loads of gear. Oscar P is tied in with Dare2b, they gave away legwarmers with most purchases.

Cycles UK have a shop just past the end of my road. I'm not a great lover of them, even though they're my Localest BS - they have a business feel to them far more than they have a bike feel. Pricey, patchy stock but lots of high end bikes in the shop. (I think their mechanic is probably ok though. Mind I don't know their prices. But at least he was able to explain something to me that the sales person couldn't.)

The new Orpington store (as @Saddle bum would probably agree) is brilliantly designed and laid out with a good selection of stock. Bikes, clothing and gear. They even have comfy sofa's, a coffee machine and changing rooms. Dan, Alex and the guys are top people. Always willing to help out. They have now helped me out with a couple of mechanical fixes now and charged the minimum. They even exchanged a wheel I bought from elsewhere on their shop warranty foc.

For the 'Deptford MeMeSet' no doubt. Specialised Concept Store is the nearest thing to ££specialist££ near me, North of the river, or Quest bikes in North Harrow. Strange...never really had a need for 'a bike shop' as Evans are everywhere in Central Zone, and open early to late, seven days.

Yes - nice. I used to live almost opposite and the Dad was in charge. now I have a chat with the son if I coincide with him on the ride out of town - pretty dedicated guy. They have their own team (still, I think) - never seen much evidence of them on the road though. They also do their own frames etc
