Merci beucoup - wicked - was going to have tomorrow repacking all the stuff I have unpacked because I needed it - long night coming on ^_^
I just had a last minute trip to Dublin - non cycling - and found my EHIC had expired. Application for replacement filed immediately, but could proceed with booking tickets when I found out i was covered. Carried my old card with me, as presumably that would help me get assistance.

OTOH, I have a strong Australian accent, but have never had to prove my eligibility in the UK. Two broken bones attended to. Yeah, they may have looked up my National Insurance number.

Oh, here's an odd benefit of the EHIC. Australia (Medicare) has a reciprocal arrange with the NHS. I've used my EHIC to prove my eligibility for the NHS, and thus had the Australian authorities issue me with a temporary Medicare card. There are other ways to do this, but the EHIC is the simplest.
