Had a cracking off this morning. I guess black ice and 25mm's don't mix too well. My chin took most of the impact leaving me with a quite remarkable huge red wound that is similar to what I'd expect 5 good passes with an angle grinder would achieve. Sadly it will take a few days to grow a beard to cover it and so will look ridiculous until then. At least my battered hip, which took the rest of the hit, will keep me off the streets!

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Heal well and heal quick.

It was lovely (all relative I guess) and warm here in the east mids today, so I am surprised at black ice.
Black ice and any non studded tyres don't mix though, it isn't a road bike specific thing ;)

Hope your chin heals (or your beard grows) quick!

Thanks all. In Aberdeen so I shouldn't be surprised by the ice. First commute in weeks due to snow so I was itching to get out when perhaps I shouldn't have.

Sorry to hear that! GWS!
In Glasgow we had snow and ice yesterday, all melted, sunny and mild today.

Another casualty ? we really should consider re-enacting the MJ Thriller video with all the cycling wounded. Have a speedy recover and pray it doesnt turn into Jimmy Hill. GWS:thumbsup:
