Well, as the title says... I got hit by a car on Thursday.
I was coming along the main road, approaching a junction. On my right is another main road which joins onto the one I was on and on my left was a minor lane which again joins onto the road I was on.
Both of these roads have to stop give priority to traffic coming down the central road, however the lane is a horrible one to come out of at the best of times.
As I went past the lane on the left (you can't see up it till you're are about to pass it), a car unfortunately pulled out past the stop line and onto the main road and hit the front tyre of my bicycle. I went sliding down the road, still not fully aware of what had just happened.
Thankfully there were plenty of cars around (morning work traffic) so there weren't a shortage of helpers. I was cut and grazed however after a couple of minutes I was able to stand. The driver was in shock, however she called the police whilst someone else called an ambulance.
Spent the morning in A&E, getting dealt with (11 dressings in total ranging from my ankle to my back and shoulders, all on my left side). The police came to see me, along with bringing my bicycle from the scene. They essentially said that she had admitted to full responsibility, and upon inspection that the mirror at the road side was out of align and therefore created a blind spot.
The driver has been more than apologetic, despite me re-assuring her that I'm okay (especially considering she couldn't really of done anything different as she after all hadn't actually seen me because of the mirror).
Hopefully the mirror will be dealt with very quickly, in the mean time... any advice on dealing with the road burn?
