Thanks for all the kind comments on the other topic! Got back from the hospital this afternoon, and things are looking on the up. They aren't sure there's a fracture now, and I can do as much as I feel able to - i.e. without pain and without causing swelling.

I might go for a little ride tomorrow, since I've managed a fair amount of walking today.

The bruising is a little washed out in this piccie, it's more impressive IRL.

Ouch indeed.

What happened?

Make sure you get some physiotherapy. With ankle injuries you can quickly lose proprioception (joint position sense) which in turn can cause ankle instability and make you suscpetible to further injury.

It definitely looks painful - lots of sympathy (I'm sure lots of choc/mince pies etc will help the recovery process;)).. but I have missed the post where you damaged yourself... on your bike or skates?

Ooh, how I did it? The answer is being very silly - I lost my temper and kicked a cupboard door. I know, all my friends are quite shocked, that's really quite unusual for me to lose my temper. Being silly, that's common behaviour, LOL.

I think I'll try riding some rollers today, I feel almost at the point of expiry since I haven't ridden for a week.

The pics blocked at work, unless your foot resembles a small red St Andrew's cross, but I'm glad its not broken and I hope it heals fast.

To be fair, it's just a wee bruise. I suspect that BM is just being a big Jessie!

'kicked a cupboard door'

you couldn't make it up

side of the foot looks preferable to anywhere else on that foot

LOL, no really. Kicked with the ball of my foot and the toes lifted, mai geri style. Weird how the bruising has just leaked to the side.

Cheers for the proprioception comment, alp. That's a big word that I actually use at work, LOL. I should be fine though, skaters tend to have extremely good proprioception there, as well as strangely calloused and muscled feet.
