I was doing something at work that I do many times a day
(get smut mob thinking) and the hand just folded up and there
was a impressive crack and here I'm now typing one handed

Swap yer brakes over on the Rat so you can use the front brake with your good hand - then you'll be fine to get back out on the bike. No problems.

Yep I'll have to go and see Mr.Burrows so
he can give me some of his wisdom on how to
sort out the braking
At the mo the whole hand and halfway up the
forearm is yellow with a lovely shades of blue and purple

The front wheel drive recumbent does fit on
the trainer
so I'll be riding for 30minutes tonight in the
spare room

Get a tandem brake lever - they run two cables, so you can operate front and back off one lever. Did that for a one-armed guy at the workshop once.

Been to the docs today
He's saying with the damage that I have done to the hand it could be
upto 3 months before I can even think about returning to work

But I can ride the recumbent carefully .....yippee
