I rode the fixed upright yesterday for the first time since early December. Yowser that's hard work compared to the 'bent, although the fixed is much faster uphill. I ache all over, but particularly my butt and shoulders/neck. This upright malarky!!!

Oh, filmed a company driver on the phone too, but he and everyone else was well behaved last night. Lovely! Even the driver trying to overtake me on College Road in Dulwich across the speed bumps. When I shouted an OI as he drifted across towards me, he braked and moved right, so no harm done, just bit of poor planning on his part well corrected for.

I love the idea of trying a recumbent, looks fun and the idea of the additional speed is appealing.

Do you cop for a lot of funny looks and daft comments, also is it a bit scary down there.

Sometimes it's considerably less speed, like on the very hilly Ashdown ride last weekend. ;)

...but uber fast on a relatively long and flat commute like mine. Yes, lots of funny looks and comments, but it's not scary. On the contrary, it's more scary on an upright because drivers don't see you and don't give you the same amount of room as you get on a recumbent.

Well, when you have an 'armchair' to sit back in -I'm not surprised that you have unused muscles!!!!!

What prompted the ride with the upright today?

PS Are the rumours true??? You're coming out Sunday??!!!

LOL! I'm coming on Sunday yeah, but on the fixed. Torn derailleur hanger on the 'bent, and it's a custom one so am still waiting for one to be shipped from the Netherlands. I hope my butt survives, I'll be asking for compeed for my sitbones at this rate.

LOL, so true HJ!!!!

Although part is a badly fitting saddle. Today I wore two pairs of cycling shorts, one under my bibs and one over. That helped, but even more so was buying a new saddle. My butt was in heaven riding away from the bike shop, LOL! What I wasn't impressed with is that I needed a wider saddle. SHHHH OK!!!

I had a toupe team 130mm, now got a toupe gel 143mm. There's hardly any gel mind, it's still a fairly thin saddle. Yes, had a fitting, but ages ago.

Caught this one on camera: NA58 TZM - Morrison Utility Services driver apparently on the phone.

I'll wait for youtube to index it before I send off an email. That way I can suggest they search on their company name for the youtube footage.

Happy happies. Another successful campaign action. Response from a Morrison PR Officer that the driver will be dealt with by HR, and the video used to reinforce training about phone usage in company vehicles.

Well done Morrison Utility Services, thank you!
