Ouchy, ouchy and no cycling for me!

Just had an inguinal hernia sorted - well, on Friday afternoon. Things are a bit sore at the moment, but hopeful. The surgeon is an mtb'er, and said we'll do a good job, you're one of us, just don't go and try the Alpe d'Huez for a couple of weeks:eek: What better excuse have I got for guilt free enjoyment of CC when the weather is bright and sunny and others are out on their bikes^_^, and the pain relief is rather good too:hyper:

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the healing vibes, I've been told I can consider getting back on the bike in a month - just something very easy, and should be ok for some gentle cycling as part of a holiday in Wales in the middle of June. Will have to keep away from some of the steeper hills though. I've had a look at the maps and there seems to be plenty of potential routes locally including the Mawddach Trail (one of my favorites), and out towards Talyllyn Lake. At least the planning takes my mind off the discomfort!

Gws! :hugs:
Relax, the weather is not that great yet, it will be perfect by the time you can ride your bike again.
Scotland excepted

I was riding again 3 days later on the turbo, on the road in less than two weeks and racing after 6 weeks, I was encouraged to keep cycling. Mine was done at the British Hernia Clinic 20 years ago.

I had mine done one week ago, the surgeon said to let my body tell me when I was ready to cycle again. Well I managed 100yrds yesterday, as soon as I had to put some pressure on the pedals, my body said "No"...ow! Will try again in a few days. The repair is supposed to be as strong as it gets at the time of repair, so no having to wait for it to 'cure', just a case of letting all the swelling and bruising subside. I have kept off all painkillers as they can bung you up, leading to straining, and that will hurt!

As I live in the middle of lots of hills there will be plenty of pressure on the pedals. So definitely waiting for a bit longer. I went for a short walk this morning - uphill of course, thinking at least it is downhill on the way back. Apart from feeling a bit weak, no problems at all. Will go out again this afternoon. I have been taking the painkillers, but also been using a stool softener each day - brilliant stuff! So far, the hardest challenge is not to laugh or cough - ooh it hurts!!
Pat "5mph" when I'm fit, perhaps we should organise a ride and celebrate Scotland's unique wetness:rain::bicycle: :rain:
