Here are my Viking Clubmaster and my wife's Raleigh Caprice both used for commuting most days

My wife's bike is known affectionately as Dorothy but she does not own any red shoes or have a small terrier.

My Viking was originally called Vicky (after cartoon series Vicky the viking) but decided it needed a more manly name so has been changed by deed poll to Kirk (after Kirk Douglas again the link being Vikings)

2012 I'm afraid, its based on the original 1960's clubmaster but not made in wolverhampton but somewhere in the far east I assume. I did have an original Viking frame that my uncle gave me in my teens but when I got a car it got sold. Why did I do it!!!

When I was a teenager Viking was THE bike to have, although I never owned one. I guess you've seen the classicrendezvous site. I asked on another thread if people were influnced by the old now defunct makers and I guess some still have some affection for them. Quite a few oldies come up on ebay and the like.

My wife just looked over my shoulder and said, "Wow...now that's a bike!" when she saw your wife's bike...she never says that...and I've shown her hundreds of road bikes in cycling mags that I think are cool!

I do occasionally check ebay for an original one but can never justify the money on on one

It's abit pricey but if it's in good condition it may be a good buy. These things can only go up in value. Think how much fun you could have building it up, either with contemporary components or with .modern updated stuff.

I thought it was a bit pricey but it looked in nice condition and would love to, but can't justify the cost at moment
