Hi There!
I was pointed here by a new aquaintance stevieboy378 (via Twitter - ah the joy of social media) as I need to gather some info about cycling - road & off road - in the Peak District.

I must confess I am not a cyclist - well I have a bike & have trained for and done one triathlon but that was a one off and now I don't ride much as we are living in the suburb that is greater London & there is far too much traffic here for my liking!

Just wondering where would be the best place on here to post my questions about cycling in the Peak District?

Many thanks

When you say off-road - do you mean the trails or more mountain biking?

I was in the Peak District a couple of weeks ago with my children and we ended up cycling some of the trails with them. I picked up a couple of free leaflets, one of them was called White Peak Trails and Cycle-Routes (you could possibly send off for them or pick them up in a tourist information place):

and

Cycle Derbyshire:

http://mediafiles.th...byshire-map.pdf

We also cycled around Carsington Water and some local roads near where we were staying.

I looked for that map and found this instead:

http://www.ctc.org.u...WDerbyshire.pdf

Hope that is of some use to you.

Edit: sorry I forgot to say Welcome!

Thanks for all of that info.

We have a holiday cottage in the Peaks with storage space for bikes so want to encourage cyclists to come so needed information about cycling in the area to include on our website.

So any kind of cycling in the area is of interest. Tracks trails or hard core off road!

Thanks

Jill

Not sure if anyone is exactly from the PD on here, but I do 1 route through the PD every now and again. Your best bet is a cycle shop in Whaley Bridge (forget what it's called) on the main road before Long Lane. They'll be sure to give you some knowledge, as they're off and on road.

Hope this helps
