Classy stuff 4F. I like lit up houses, shocking waste of electricity aside they're a bit of fun. If you don't like them you must a right stuck up old tosser.
calor gas bottles and regulators@Gravity Aided, that's wonderful. I used to get Popular Mechanics when I was a kid and was taken to a gadget-lover's paradise. They had all kinds of dangerous stuff. There was a fantastic DIY scuba outfit cobbled together from scrap anaesthetic equipment. Bush mechanics at it's finest.
Won't anyone think of the enviromental harm caused by the energy needed to power these displays
Every little helps as one allegedly criminal company saidbeing as most are LEDS with about 1/4 W LED within a good optic then the energy consumption for a mahoosive ( yes it is in the OED now) display is about the same as using an immersion heater
Indeed. Or in my case, something French, romantic and adulterous.I vote Victorian novels are much better. Who needs stupid flashing lights when you could go to bed early with a leather-bound Trollope?
Bonsoir!Indeed. Or in my case, something French, romantic and adulterous.

I don't leave any devices on standby other than my PVR which has to be left on to do its recordings at all times of the day and night. So i take it you unplug all PCs and televisions and routers every night when you go to bed/sleep. and remove all unused chargers this is what wastes more energy than christmas lights. that said a huge amount of lights is a bit tacky. but each to their own
Should that be Tiny Tin?Personally, I always give Tiny Tim a good canning over the festive season.
