When my sister was born, she howled loudly all the time Mum was in hospital. After she'd been wheeled out of the ward in disgrace again, for setting all the other babies off, the lady in the next bed "What are you going to call the wee bairn?" My Mum said, through gritted teeth, "Decibel". "Och, that's nice," said the woman.

With regard to school, I suspect the other children will simply take it on board at primary school - it's later, and in adult life that he may rue the name. Or may not. Perhaps he'll grow a personality to fit it, gawd help us.

Just back from my grandson's 3rd birthday, there were a whole load of Decibels there too.

You wouldn't want to make make friends with D'Artagnan would you, in case you were tarred with one of the 3.
