Back in the seventies when it was possible to pay utility bills at the gas and electricity showrooms, it wasn't necessary to provide proof of identity to get the bills assigned to a nominated payer.
Our student house designated a fictional 'Richard Smegma' as the person responsible for the utility bills and our student house must have been the only one where the occupants fought for for the right to go and pay the bills at the counter accompanied by the other fnaar fnaaring occupants.
I don't recall there ever being an acknowledgement by any of the cashiers of the connotations of the bill payer's name.

It is said that my grandfather had to christen a child Hannah Anne Montgomery Shanks. Or something along those lines. H.A.M. Shanks, anyway... Apparently a gasp went round the church as the names were announced...

Arhaaaa, today in sports direct I erd a lady call her lad ….Shirley. Oh yes, deffo a boy. Never ever come across that despite the obvious male being called Shirley … and I forget who it was. John Wayne? Oh no that was Marion.
