Some useful tips on this thread, guys. For posterity, here is what I have tried:
Whilst in Norway this year, I wore this offering from Décathlon:

I was looking something that would keep my feet dry, not really to keep them warm (it was summer). They did keep my feet dry in some of the worst conditions I've ever cycled in - and they weren't very warm, so definitely not one for the winter. However, and this is the killer, they lasted only ONE day! OK, so the conditions were harsh, but that's no excuse.

They're not very waterproof, although they keep my feet dry during my 30 km commute. However, they're lovely and warm. But, as I said, they have started showing signs of wear after 3 months. It's for this reason that I can't really recommend them, unfortunately.
