Overtrousers

I am looking for a good set of Over trousers for Jannie. They must have zips in the legs so she can get them on and off with her boots on. Waterproof and breathable. Must be good quality.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I use the Altura ones . Seems to work ok for me when I have decent trousers and no changing place .

Edit Mine are quite old now and they don't appear to have a direct equivalent in the current range.

I used golfing trousers when I commuted and found these ticked all the boxes. Lined, zipped bottoms, two Velcro straps on each bottom so no danger of catching in chain, pockets. They were nicely tailored and while I’m no style icon I do like to look half decent.

These have lasted five years and are now used more often on my walking days as I’m retired. I did once get totally soaked on an 80 mile ride in to an easterly gale from Ullapool to Inverness otherwise I found them very effective.

Cost me about £30.

I would visit your local outdoor shop that sells Mountaineering gear, most good quality walking and climbing waterproof trousers have side poppers with velco overflaps to make removing them over walking or climbing boots. in all extremes of weather.

I use Berghaus Paclite. Pack small and light. Full length zips including venting by opening from top. I've used them for backpacking for years and they work just as well on a bike. Can be sourced for around £60 on t'internet

Endura do specific waterproof bottoms for cycling, so no flapping around your ankle like mountaineering ones would do on the bike.

Used mine yesterday! light enough to be carried if the weather just looks iffy. The Goretex Pacite fabric seems quite delicate, so be careful not to damage it. The Berghaus Deluge are much cheaper and more robust, but heavy.

They don't flap, thanks to the poppers on the hems which allow them to be pulled in

I use the Decathlon ones. 2 years old now and used on occasion on the commute, or for 100km in Brighton when it's belting down. Inside stayed dry.

I got some Madison Zenith overtrousers last winter. They’re a lot better than the Altura pair I had.

Rainlegs have served me well, not what you're looking for but they work efficiently.

What @Geoff Crowther said. The Berghaus leggings come in different lengths which means they are more fitted.
