went on a short ride with a few clubmates yesterday. got my winter bike with it's heavy steel frame and 42x25 lowest gear over some hills i thought it couldn't do, which was nice.
unfortunately, as we pottered through congleton, my front wheel touched the wheel of the chap in front. so as a result i'm lying on the floor of a bus layby hardly able to move, and far from with it (luckily i didn't take anyone else down).
clubmates were helpful, of course, and we ended up going to cycle store in congleton while i awaited rescue. they were happy to just let me stay there in the warm and they are even looking after the bike for me. i didn't have any cash to make even a token purchase. never been there before, and it's a really good shop with loads of different stuff, so i will be going back there again.
they are also online at www.cyclestore.co.uk; i think they deserve a shameless plug...
anyway, mrs alecetc arrives and takes me to casualty where after much waiting and x-raying i am diagnosed with a fractured right collarbone ligament. could be worse, but i'll be living the life of a one-armed lefty and unable to ride or drive for three weeks.
and it still hurts
