After 3 months of no commuting and precious little cycling due to the weather and redundancy I have finally started the cycle commute again this week.

Whilst going to the gym regularly in the last 3 months I am definitely not bike fit and am in bits after 3 days, did I really used to do this distance 5 days a week and then go the the gym?? Never mind I am sure it will all be fine in a few weeks!!!

Unfortunately its something I go through regularly. 4 weeks on a ship with little opportunity to get on any form of bike, then 4 weeks at home were its my primary transport. I feel your pain.

The Xmas holidays were enough to make me wince. Can't imagine what 3 months would be like. Welcome back.

it's frustrating isn't it? fitness takes time to build and it goes so quickly!!!

Welcome back- hope it isn't too painful for too long!

Glad you are back Ranger. I decided to fill my time after redundancy with a MSc. That's the taught bit over succesfully (distinctions included  ) and I'm doing the data input for the dissertation as I type but its been months since I've been out for a proper long ride. I got a turbo at Christmas and that is keeping me ticking over but my stamina will be all to pot.

Been there myself over this winter, out of work from 3rd December to 18th January (mostly because of illness), I jumped back on the bike, did the 4 miles into work and I was shattered.

Hopefully some 30+ mile runs will follow shortly

8 weeks off the bike (and most other excercise) due to back surgery and now still only managing to cycle once a week at most - believe me, Ranger, I feel your pain!
