    Hi,

So cycled for about 25 miles yesterday - by the end of it my right knee was hurting.... this is the first time this has happened (although this is the first time i'd cycled that distance)...

Any thoughts on what might have caused it?

Thoughts on what might have caused it are being the first time you've cycled that distance. In your post from yesterday you said you commute 11 miles each way a couple of times a week. Seems like a fair old initial jump to me although I don't know your fitness, from the 11mph average you seemed pretty speedy. You might be grinding a bit too much maybe? Where in the knee is the pain is it at the outside low down?

Having your saddle too low, not using your gears correctly, cleats setup wrongly, not being used to that amount of exercise...

Sounds like the saddle is either to high or to low
