Well, me and my brother both went up, and he had Crocs on. Not the normal ones though, he has ones with leather on.

I haven't read this thread, but snowdon / climbing can reduce people to tears

It was another thread Abs, one in which many people tried to persuade me it was.
Me and my brother walked up without all the gear, and then back down, over taking people with all the gear on.
So, whats the need for the gear for a gentle jaunt up the side of a hill?

First time I have heard Abitrary talk sense. There is one track which can be lethal if the weather is crap... you are on your hands and knees crawling along foot wide ledges at times. Other tracks are pretty hard physically, but busy enough to be safe should anything happen to you (such as the Pyg track) and then there is the path running up next to the railway track, which I will be trying to get up and down within 3 hours sometime soon when I do the three peak's challenge

Piss easy.
Me and my brother did that miners route in about 1:40 up and 1:30 down. And for abit on the way down we had to help my brother down, and on the way up went slow with my mum for abit.
If you dont do that in 3 hours your rubbish.

Specialist equipment? I define that to mean some waterproofs, warm clothes, food and a map and compass with the ability to use it. Footwear is debatable, generally something waterproof or warm but I'm less inclined to worry about footwear except for those used only to walking about on city streets.

I have a mate who is a qualified mountain leader, he now volunteers for mountain rescue and is forever on courses to enhance his knowledge on climbing techniques, first aid (lots of first aid!) etc etc.

Question, if Snowdon isn't a mountain, why do we have mountain rescue teams on permanent readiness in Snowdonia?

Because it gets classed as a mountain for some reason?
Theres no easy route up proper mountains, just an easier route, thats still very hard.
