I go to the Netherlands every May half term with my bike. This will be my last year though as I have paid £780 for 2 of us + bikes (no car) and can’t justify the expense any more. As I recall, our first trip with a North Sea crossing (paid for in 2019 and finally taken in 2021) cost around £400.
I’m sad about this as we are doing half the Zuiderzee route this year and want to return next year to complete the top half!

Blimey, and I thought Brittany ferries was expensive.

IIRC, my first Plymouth-Roscoff return as foot passenger (1995) was about £24, and I was outraged when they doubled the price a couple of years later. I can't remember what I paid for Poole-St Malo with a bike in August 2012, with cabin, but I'm sure it was under £100, as I'm a tightwad. I think the bike was probably free, but not sure.

If you're touring, the overnight cabin is instead of a hotel. I don't think that's particularly expensive, personally.

I can see that POV re the price of the cabin. But then, they are charging £100 each way on top of that for a foot passenger, that is outrageous IMHO.. They can't have it both ways and shaft us for both (ok; they obviously CAN). By all means charge £98 each way for a pokey wee cabin, but make the actual fare something around £30 to £50 and I just might be tempted. But they are taking the proverbial as things are...

I'm glad P&O aren't necessary for any ferry trips I'd want to take, given their appalling actions a few years ago.

Agreed. Horrible company, and I would grudge paying them a reasonable fare, never mind this robbery.

And I speak as a former employee (deep sea cargo ships though, ferries were run separately). It pains me to see the way they have gone, as I still think they were easily the best company I have ever worked for. But the P&O of the late 70's and early 80's has no connection with this outfit other than the name.

Had a quick look and about the same, £600 for two. Can't carry a 1/10th of what I can in the car though.

HOW MUCH??!! :wacko::wacko::wacko:

Sorry, I take it all back, I just made a lazy guess and I apologise totally! 🤣
