simple question
what padded shorts for as cheap as possible (not rapha budget!) but comfortable enough to comfortably do imperial centuries? been looking at wiggle as a prefer to buy online but feel free to point me to other retailers
normal shorts or bib shorts i don't mind but in general on a low budget i believe you get better shorts with better padding then you do bib shorts?

dhb from wiggle are pretty good, but from my experience the more you pay the better the pad & more comfort especially on long rides. This summer I bought a pair of http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-vaeon-roubaix-pro-padded-bib-short/ & they are the comfiest shorts I've owned & really good for hours & hours in the saddle  Keep your eye out for bargains on shorts over the winter. My tip, buy shorts in winter & longs in summer for best prices ^_^

It is easy to knock Rapha, but their clearance lines are typically an opportunity to buy some designer clothing at normal prices

However, this is almost certainly out of your range.

I use Ribble as my online shop of choice. Having had a quick look, there are some good deals. I have been using Santini for the last few years and have found them excellent.

I've found altura progel for as little as £25 online. Plenty of sudocrem helps too, don't care if I do smell like a hospital toilet.

am looking at all sorts oh DHB on wiggle at the mo' and reading all the reviews there is always half a dozen or so reviews that say things such as the shorts wear very quickly, the chamois is terrible and the seams rub awfully or the pad is too thin or too bulky etc. the rest of the reviews are great, should i simply ignore these few bad reviews and go for it? considering it seems to be so for any shorts i look at

Go for the Vaeron Roubaix.

You'll find that most popular items will have some knockers.

Ps. The DHB Vaeron Roubaix bib tights are also absolutely superb IMHO.
