Paint or no paint?

Difficult to do to a good standard without leaving a ridge. Down and dirty way would be to mask off using jubilee clips at the ends and heavy duty tape at the sides and scuff the area to be painted. Then mask off with tape and spray paint.

This assumes that the existing finish is not clear coated. If it's clear coated it will be easier to get your OCD treated
