Sorry to raise an old question, but does anyone have any views on these Avenier panniers?
They say their waterproof, but before I sink £80 on them, I'd like to know if anyone recommends them.

I have got a set of Ortlieb City Pannier Bag's being watched on ebay, but typically know these will only go up in price.
I know the old adage of buy cheap buy twice, but really just need something to tide me over until I can buy better.

Any suggestions or thoughts will definitely welcome.

I would be more interested to know how they hold onto the rack. I couldn't see anything obvious and that worries me. The ease of getting them on and off the bike is important to how you use them.

Something like this may be better and cheaper if you don't mind the colour...

Edit: this is a pair of rear (20L) Ortleib City panniers for £67.49 (red, white or black)

Thank you SatNav, Numbnuts and Adrian.

The Ortliebs are winning for me, so much so I'm tempted to go to my LBS and get the pannier rack fitted and order the bags tonight.
But to keep in a tight-ish budget, I'm tempted to get the ones Numbnuts put up for the time being, as just bought an expensive Lezyne front light.

Numbnuts, how have your bags handled a downpour (thunder and lightening and heavy consistent rain)?

Any other suggestions are welcome

Having just logged into my Wiggle account, I've found out that I've been "promoted" from a Gold customer to Platinum, following my recent Lezyne loaded purchase
So, the Ortlieb price has gone from £66 to £62.25, so very tempted to buy.

is that for the fronts (12.5L) or rears (20L)... the link I gave you was for rears...

(edit: fronts can go on the rear, it is just they are smaller and may not be what you are after...)

Yes, its as SatNavSaysStraightOn says, the rack connectors are the most important.
My Vaudes (very similer to Ortlieb) seem good for a lifetime in that aspect.

But on the subject, some of the welt on the heavy duty vinyl material has come slightly undone on one of the bags (12 years old approx).
Has anyone successfully repaired one to be able to advise?

photo? I have repaired out Ortlieb ones without issues (after my OH tried to change the laws of physics and attempted to cycle through a bridge barrier rather than around it , plus one of mine after a slight balance issue after a very long day in the saddle...:whistle:)

@SatNavSaysStraightOn , these are for rears (Ortlieb Back Roller City Panniers), so 20L each, 40L total.

@User , nope, bought and paid for now

Thank you everyone, now off to the LBS to collect my pannier rack (and maybe see my new baby - Genesis Croix de Fer)
I would be getting them (glad you have!) - that is a decent price and you won't regret having Ortliebs when the worst of the winter weather arrives!

Don't shy away from something you won't regret.

Personally, I would hold out for for the Ortleibs because I cant find anything to beat them.

rounding up this series of replies... I have reached the conclusion he has purchased the Ortliebs from Wiggle at £62.25... for 2 rear city rollers.
