Panto parts were not a big feature BITD (1970's for me) certainly not in Yorkshire. Plenty of DIY drillium . Tops of forks and seat stay caps sometimes had a bit of panto.

Panto was very much an Italian thing ( oh no it wasn’t etc etc) in the 70ies and 80ies.

There is a lot of debate about what is and is not original/ acceptable. As with much on-line debate there is much heat and little light on the subject Some panto is properly “iconic”, for example the Gios Torino “GT” Chainrings, which were shipped with the original Super Record frame; much is after market. Does it matter? To some yes, to others less so. Ultimately, if you are happy with how it looks then great.

In terms of who does panto, there are a few dodgy chancers on eBay who bugger up perfectly good parts through poor use of a dremel. On the other hand, a good engraver with the right kit and supplied with a good template should do a top job. CampOldy on his website says that he has used his local engraver in Wimborne to good effect.
