Just got back form the supermarket. The guy behind me seemed to step back when I entered my pin at the till to get a better look. Felt uncomfortable and left quickly, got in car and locked it. He came out of the supermarket on the phone. A car then pulled up behind be blocking me in a bit and was beeping at me holding up a map book. I ignored him and had to force my way out a bit. Did he expect me to get out while the other guy snatched my bag or am I being paranoid? Felt quite shaken up by it all.

Glad you're ok Karen. If in doubt and all that.... I think you did the right thing.

I think you did the right thing. Hopefully it was innocent and a row of coincidences (where the guy waving the map could still find someone to help him find his way) but at least you're safe and well and have your bag.

That's disgusting behaviour in stepping back to get a better look at your pin number though. Even if it was done innocently it's still very rude!

Really glad to hear you're ok. Sit quietly for a bit with a hot drink and biscuits until the world feels right again!

Maybe a little paranoid. Did you cover the keypad when entering your pin so that he could not see it? He was on the phone when he came out of the shop, is it so strange for someone to be on the phone? The carpark bit is a bit strange, but so are many people Maybe because of a couple of "odd" coincidences so close together you have convinced yourself that something is up when there maybe nothing in them at all. If you are at all worried, contact your bank and cancel your card, they will issue a new one in a matter of days.

Perhaps he was stepping back so as he COULDN'T see the pin. I've done this before... but I wasn't there, so...

Switched on, I reckon, although it could be a string of coincidences.

Surely better to change your PIN than cancel your card? The new card would be set to accept the existing PIN anyway.
And that's something which you could do instantly without any more inconvenience than stopping at the next ATM. Waiting a couple of days for a new card could be a pain.

I'd call the bank anyway, so that they can put a marker on your account but I think you saved yourself there well, Karen.

Seriously, sounds like the three events were unrelated, but you are wise to be worried about your pin; I always cover mine.

Similar thing happened to my parents in Spain at a service station. They cut their tyres, then point out they've got a flat whip round and their passports and everything were taken.
The oddest part was where the guy was asking me for directions. It was an obstructive way to do it. Why drive off from a car park and then randomly stop and beep at someone who is in their car. +++ he was male... and we all know that men do not as a rule ask for directions, especially from females!!!!!

Worth reporting then....?

CCTV footage at the checkout might be revealing - presumably you have kept the receipt for your purchases, giving an accurate time for the "incident"
