Oooh have to have a look at this one. Been over to Crank Hill for the last two Sundays and over Winter have been going up towards Chorley to get some hills.

Distant memories - Parbold, Billinge and Frodsham, from a long, long time ago.
Did I get to the top? Must have done, or did I?

And I have an even older memory - Some kind of summer fete at Parbold and going there on the back of my dad's bike in a child's seat. I was 3 ish and it must have been 1952 or 1953 and I remember being on the back and my hat blew off and they all made such a fuss. Can't remember anything else, except for they used to keep reminding me of the day.

That's my local hill part of my every day ride when i'm fit (ie not at the moment) I'll usually do the Beacon and then Parbold from the steep side as part of a 30 miler.

That little kick past the Church is nasty

I never seem to go up Parbold on the main road much, prefer to turn off and head up Stoney Ln or go up Ashurst Beacon instead.. Or both if it's a good day.

Either way, average speed is not something I ever worry about!
