Paris to Reims, Reims to Strasbourg...routes?

Hi Guys,
My wife and I are heading into Paris on July 2nd for two weeks of fully-loaded touring. Our goals are:
1. See a stage of the Tour de France. Thinking of riding to the Reims area from Paris and catching a stage on the 6th or 7th
2. Taking the train to Strasbourg for a tour of the Alsace region.

Looking for some advice for ways to get out of Paris and start the tour north to the Reims area. I can't find a good route out of Paris, should we take the train to one of the suburbs?

I'd take a train out personally. Parisian traffic is less than fun.
