Whilst I agree with you on that point, I would rather the person I employ spend more time at work being productive, rather than cycling.

It's not your business as an employer how someone gets to and from work, only that they can do the hours and be there on time.

Which is why I used the words at work, When I employed staff which I did for many years I was happy for them to cycle, run, walk or whatever to get to work. In one area these modes of transport allowed for more reliable time keeping.
I would rather they use a vehicle if something needed picking up 20 miles away in works time.

Not strictly on topic, but a parking tale non the less.

A few weeks ago I was on our local Tesco car park when the swiss family lardarse came walking past me, spotting a space being vacated right outside the shop the mother became all excited and said to her husband, "look go and get the car quick."
He then wobbled about thirty yards back to their car whilst she stood in front of the empty space to make sure no one could park in it until her husband drove over.

The vehicle is used for travelling from one area to another, not whilst actually working.

Often seen by insurers as multiple places of employment thus needing business cover
Usually 'commuting' is specified as to one fixed place of work

How many insurance companies state that you cannot use your bike for any one specific purpose?
Most, that offer it, seem to cover that under third party or public liability.

I asked whether, due to the fact that I cycle rather than drive, if it would be seen as a cyclist getting their own back on motorists. Who just happen to park illegally.

I'm not aware of anyone within the company, locally, who cycles to work. They all seem to drive.
