My Mrs is thinking of buying one of these, but looking at the spec (and I'm no expert) I don't see it being any good to come out on long runs with me, I assume this is a short journy bike?

She should just use my old MTB and let me put the money to a road bike

Hi Jim Noir

Not good for longer rides- basically designed in the style of dutch bikes for quick journeys around and the sloping top tube is also designed for skirt wearing.

Quite popular at the moment as they're fashionable but not a practical long journey bike- though depends on how long youi're thinking.

About 50 mile trips, so she'd be effed on one of these? Maybe I should allow her to purchase it then... though I have visions of getting halfway there and her wanting to swap bikes... I'd look great on one... "trink trinkk" from the bell and tassles on the handlebars.

I think I should ban my OH from bikes?

I'm sure she could keep up with you on your long runs with that. Bike rides on the other hand...

Definitely get a better bike if you're planning on 50 miles otherwise be prepared to be the Pashley Princess yourself!!

She doesn't want a road bike thinks they don't look robust ehough! It's the Pashley or a MTB she is after, I think I'll stick effe off knobbys on the apollo MTB I use the now and get her to do 50 miles on that
