She doesn't want a road bike thinks they don't look robust ehough!

Pashleys are robust. That's because they're built and geared like tanks and weigh half a tonne. Classy yes and great for popping about locally in normal clothes, but not the kind of bike for an occassional cyclist to take on 50 mile trips.

How about some kind of tourer that'll be robust but a bit better on the road? This one's got a dropped top bar and it's even got funny handlebars so she could change riding positions.

what i did was get my fiancee to get a mountain bike to come mountain biking (which she wanted to) and then she started coming on trips to a pub for lunch etc using the bike to get places, after a year she was complaining about being worn out easily on it on the road, i kept commenting why i wasn't worn out on my road bike

i then built her a road bike (without her knowing) and she loves it, got a text this morning asking if its ok to ride it to work this evening and leave it locked up!
