I passed my driving test on tuesday had my car a few months but couldn't drive it for obvosis reasons but i had the police come to my door last night due to apparently hitting another car in a supermarket car park when i parked with two spaces free either side of my car and now the third party has put a claim in for no reason due to no damage on my car and the officer also acknowledged that theres no damage.

Tell your insurance company what has happened and let them deal with it.
I agree with this as that's what you pay the for, never mind the fact that it will be a policy requirement!

My dad had this years ago, an unexpected claim for damages, plus a visit from the police.
No damage to dads car and he was in town at the time of the supposed accident.
The policeman asked how come they think you are responsible ?

Ive no doubt they saw me said dad....I can only suppose they just pick a car, that happened to be me, take its reg number and go from there.

No problem said the police....seen it before.

If there's no physical evidence of your car having collided with another such as paint transfer, and presumably no CCTV footage either, I wonder why the police would act on someone's word that it happened at all.

Something's not right about this.

Tell your insurance company that someones trying a scam on you, They'll have more 'intelligence' (in the knowing about this sense) than the police. (no-one was injured so the various forces won't bother sharing knowledge)

Apparently eye witness rang them up so they came out something to do with procedure and it looks like they actually did something

Think it tends to be classed as knock for knock...
my car door was blown out of my hand at Tesco Hampton..fierce wind ,i nearly pulled the door handle off.
the resulting whack on the golf parked next to me with a very alarmed driver was quit funny..

i told him to price up a smart repair..which he got done for 150 quid which i hapoily paid for him..my new car was barely marked as the impact was on the door seam..
