Thought I'd finally renew my provisional, better than digging out the passport if I want to pick up a parcel. Then I tried a mock test online, seemed like a piece of piss and now I've done the real thing just because I could.

Saw a video by an American that lives over here and does stuff about the difference in uas and uk, the driving test over there is driving around a car park...they were told here when they had lessons they basically needed to start from scratch as they couldn't drive.

I learned to drive later in life. I took my theory the year after covid lockdown. The lady in the test centre insisted everyone place their licence on to a ping pong bat she held out to avoid hand contact. She even placed your results on said bat and passed them to you 😂

I passed my driving test in 1964, age 17. Subsequently, age 64, I decided to take lessons and take a motorcycle test. Based on advice from my motorcycle mad son-in-law, I took the full test, allowing me to ride all sizes of motorcycle. This included the "Theory Test" as well as the "practical" test. I passed first time, much to the irritation of several of my (much younger) fellow pupils, who needed more than one attempt.

I passed my test in 1968!
The test was a shambles. My examiner had his supervisor in the car, assessing him. We were doomed from the start.
It didn't go well, for him or me. He was nervous, I was too.
But at the end no one was dead, I'd learned the highway code and didn't touch the kerb doing the 3 point turn.
Oh and it snowed a bit.
