I often think off things in my current situation that my mum and dad would love. My dad died before his great grandson was born but my mum had severe dementia and my daughter couldn’t face taking my grandson to meet as she wanted remember her gran in a positive light.
My mum and dad would have so loved to see my daughter married.
They would have been estatic about our dog Bertie.

Not my parents as both died 24 and 8 years ago respectively, but my ex father in law died last week. 'Big Bad Bob' died aged 86, I found out from my ex sister in laws post on Facebook. I haven't seen him for must be 9 years since me and Mrs Accy separated, but I was still quite saddened to hear of his death.

Just remembered, BBB was an ex fairground bare knuckle fighter, ex doorman/bouncer and thought nothing of drinking 15 pints of mild or bitter on a night out! Hence the nickname Big Bad Bob! 😏 😁

My main regret is that they never met my wife

The idea that I FINALLY managed to find a good one would have been a huge relief to them

and the grand kids (via her son) - my Mum would have loved them!!!

Sorry for your loss.
I’m fortunate to have both parents alive. But my wife has lost both of hers in the last two years.
Sadly it’s a natural fate that awaits us all, parents should die before their children. It’s a natural part of living and growing old. No one wants to see children dying first.)
I’m aware that there is a terrible phone call awaiting me, it could be tomorrow, but it could be 10/20 years away. Just make sure everyone know how much they are loved.

My mum was the first woman to make it past 60. Neither her grandmother, mother or sister made it beyond 59.
It’s horrible when you are carrying that sort of generational legacy.

I lost my Mum in 2020, just before Covid.

We knew it was coming, but despite what people tell you, I have always had a distinct lack of emotion, as did the rest of us.

Seriously, it has always been a very matter of fact thing.

That said, I was once talking about this to a couple of complete strangers and broke down. Very odd.
