take home made cake and wear your jeans, you might want to take a few bob to put in the "takeaway" kitty (chances are they might not ask for it and you'll come home with it, but you would be embarrased if you had no cash on you and everyone else put in)

if you decide to take wine instead of cake, a cheap bottle of white goes down better than a cheap bottle of red. Personally for me, i can tell when red wine is cheap coz its basically tastes like vinegar.

don't pull out... you never know what doors it may open for you.

Don't worry about it - take something warm too, as you'll most likely pop out side to see the fireworks - we've got a good view over Manchester/Cheshire - so we will be outside.

TBH I'm not expecting our guests to bring anything, but most bring a bottle or a few beers...home made cakes sound great....
