I don't mind the cold and even icy conditions don't really bother me.

But I absolutely hate with a passion the rain and the wind.

If it's chucking it down, I wont commute on the bike.

See we are all different - I don't mind cold, wind, rain etc...just ice with me !!

My only problem with rain is the extra faffing about with jacket, overshoes and rainlegs. A peaked cap is great for keeping rain out of your eyes, just angle the peak down slightly (but make sure you can still see where you're going!).

I reckon strong wind is the worst cycling weather, one strong gust and you can lose most of your momentum which can be very frustrating. Mind you, after my off last month I have to add ice to the list of bad cycling weather.

every day this week, it's ben no worse than cold and wet has it?

Cold, wet, windy, hail, soft snow I can cope with - solid sheets of ice I'm not so sure about!!!

Solid sheets of ice with a ton and a half of impatient car behind me and I'm staying off the bike!

It had all melted by me this morning though so back on the bike today - YAY!!

no ice this week in London, not really anyway, been clear since last Wed, enough anyway

I wear a NV top and bib longs and overshoes and gloves every day in this weather, doesn't make any difference whether it rains then

Yep with you there, ice is the only thing that will keep me off.

Why didn't you ride in then?

going back to 08 dec, last week before Christmas I don;t cycle due to increased number of pissheads and distracted people thinking about Christmas, as yes, there is a noticeable increases in incidents even when in a car.

then off to Brum for Christmas so lazzying about really.

then 09 started with much coldness - came off very badly once on ice so avoid it. then the snow, then more ice, then rain.

my commute to avoid roads takes me on a muddy path and I get fed up cleaning the bike.

ironic thing is I now should be able to get in/pout of work in the light after having spend mucho time making my LED lamps, guess I'll have to go out in the evening then!

I got so pissed off with the roads being so icy in the mornings I have taken my bike to work in the car and now ride it at lunchtimes! i know its not strictly commuting but it irritates me not being able to use it, maybe next year when i have more confidence on 700x23 tyres.

Half term next week which usually means a full weeks commute..... will not be impressed if the sun does not shine at least 50% of the time.
