Belgian cycling legend Patrick Sercu has died aged 74. He was an incredible rider, winning on the road and track where he scored numerous six day victories. I saw him a couple of times at the Skol Six and he was a rider who often had the crowd on their feet. One of the comments below the article in Cycling News mentions him sprinting with his nose over the front tyre, and that is the abiding memory I have of him myself.

Sad news. I never saw him ride but in interviews he always seemed a very nice bloke. I believe that in his back garden he had a life size copy of the Gent vélodrome built to practice on.
