Bl##dy hell. I've been driving donkeys years and have never seen or knew this was a thing. Just imagine some little kid walking round a corner or out of a house into the path of that!
Or anyone walking out of a small shop with kids.

A few years ago when I was working in Derry, out on my lunch hour I was walking on the pavement and stopped momentarily to check what change I had before popping into a shop. While I was counting my change I became aware of something behind me and looked around to find the front bumper of a Fiesta about a foot from the back of my knees. It was a driving school car too, with British School of Motoring signs so with driving instructors like him, is it any wonder there is such a problem with idiot drivers?

Round here you could RAC'h for AA bottle only to find you'd waste it, PLANTing it somewhere, some of the instructors are that good, when they've no-one else in the drivers seat.

I think there needs to be clearer distinction?

To me I would classify the risks and danger from intentional driving and parking on a pavement with the consequent damage and injuries differently to a vehicle mounting or driving on a pavement as part of loss of control whether that be drugs, alcohol, mechanical failure etc
To what end? I'm not seeing a huge difference between this

Leaving aside that the first two examples are still under investigation, so there is no firm evidence, no actual conclusion as to what happened and in both cases there is speculation that the impact was deliberate.....

This is what I was referring to:

You are quite entitled to believe that there is no difference between this type of parking and the examples you have chosen

As I stated, I believe there is a perspective and difference between the extremes

Pavement parking, pavement driving. What's the difference eh?
Officially the difference is that the presence of a vehicle on the pavement is not "evidence' that irresponsible driving has taken place

Why do people feel it necessary to park 2 wheels up on the kerb or footpath? If there ain't room to park safely without obstructing traffic flow, then go park somewhere else.
A local councillor explained this at a meeting about pavement cycling

Apparently cyclists cycle on the pavement because they are irresponsible and dangerous

Motorist park on the pavement because they "have no choice" and that is apparently neither irresponsible or dangerous

I have noted in recent years that it's perfectly 'normal' now for drivers to partially mount the pavement even if the road is wide enough. See my post elsewhere in 'blinkered parking' about this. What irritates me is that some of them will doubtless be those who moan about cycling on pavements. But when you need to park a tin can on four wheels....

I've nearly been run over by a bus that mounted the kerb to get past a bus coming the other way. The footway was very narrow and adjacent to a 3 meter wall, so I was rather boxed in. I managed to dodge out of the way, but it was still rather frightening. To be clear, the bus driver clearly had no idea I was there, even though he had literally just past me before mounting the kerb.

If i had been old or frail, or even just focused on my phone screen, I'd have been hurt or killed.

Well. well, I left Valley Parade tonight after the game v MK Dons. To the right of the pic is the long, smaller Midland Road stand. After the game a car drove south to north alongside and past the stadium and across the junction just after, at speed, along the pavement leading to hundreds of fans diving out of the way, the idiot then drove on the road, through a red light, leading to more fans diving from a pedestrian crossing. I saw this clearly and will report back on it.
