We always used the pick blade and walk method , don't try and lift them suckers cos you will hurt yourself for sure

I tried to do that with mine. Now they stick up at allsorts of odd angles!

how about trying to rig up something that takes advantage of the weight of the load... like this:

there is a version for flag stones but couldn't find a decent image... but you'll get the principle.

it'd be very similar to your design... just two big batons instead of one, pivoted in the middle and no horizontal threaded bar :smile:
