And he has done so by turning up and doing his job, whereas TB has done it by trading on connections we paid him to acquire and rubbing shoulders - and reportedly more than shoulders - with people that you and I would only approach with a pair of tongs.

An over-generous assessment, I fear. TB didn't amass his truly gobsmacking wealth merely by 'trading on' the connections 'we' paid him to acquire, he did it by selling out the people and (supposedly) principles that got him into the position to do so.When an ex-Labour leader is advising the citizens of Murdochia on how to evade the consequences of their illegal invasion of others' privacy, you really do wonder whether tongs are an adequate defence.
