Did someone win the points jersey at the Tour? Why yes, yes they did. Did they do it by ATTACKING ON THE COL DE LA CROIX DE FER?! A HORSE CAT CLIMB?! Why yes again, yes they did. Was that person Mads Pedersen? Yes again, how on earth did you guess? You know the result because it happened weeks ago and I've been banging on about it ever since but somehow forgot to update the thread? Oh. OK. Fair enough then. Did you know he won a stage as well? Oh, fine, fine. And that he has now completed the Grand Tour Sprint Jersey collection? Yes, yes, you know already. But did you know that only five other riders have ever achieved that honour - Djamolidine Abdoujaparov, Mark Cavendish, Laurent Jalabert, Eddy Merckx and Alessandro Petacchi? There are more riders who've won all three GTs.

*Technically, he wore it on seven stages - won on stage 2, lost on stage 9. And yes, I know nobody would say KoM like it was a word, so sue me.
**Actually 12 stages and a one day race if you look past the Vuelta, but six stages in the Vuelta is a Danish record

Magnus Cort retired at the end of the Vuelta

He's the first of the Golden Generation to call it a day, though still only 33.

Cort's two Vuelta stages in 2016 were the kick-off for the current flood of Viking victories - coming a e.g. year before Fuglsang's first WT level win even though Fuglsang was seven years older and the tail end of the previous generation. Valgren's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Amstel Gold in 2018 followed, then Mads P's World's in 2019 and the rest is history.

Cort won stages of the Tour de France in 2018 and 2022 and completed the GT stage hattrick with a Giro stage in 2023. With 32 of his 36 pro wins stages (14 of them at WT level) he was a prolific stage hunter, when the mood took him.

Globally, he gained recognition for his 80's Scandi porn film moustache and his high value social media presence - his Tour de France hotel reviews, for instance, and this absolute banger promoting EF's Palace Skateboards clothing sponsor



He also gained notoriety for his post stage "helicopter" celebration, which he apparently posted to group chats!

Cort finished his career with his first Danish national championships, wearing the Dannebrog to both the Tour and the Vuelta
Prestigelisten.dk rank him as the 8th greatest Danish cyclist of all time, PCS sixth
