PayPal scam doing the rounds?

I only get alerts from Barclays, Virgin and Nat West. As I don't do internet banking and have never had accounts with two of those three, and it was many a year since I had an account with the other one, I spot them as they come in and delete them without even reading them.

Initiative should be rewarded! I therefore suggest that you open accounts with Barclays, Virgin and NatWest and that you choose very easy-to-guess passwords for them. That way if enterprising phishing scamsters don't manage to get their hands on your money, then at least crafty hackers will stand a chance!

Or a staff member "prints" the details off and makes them available!

My Halifax account was compromised a few years back and a couple of unauthorised withdrawals were made before I spotted what was going on. I think it was about THIS TIME.

Companies should know better than to store unencrypted passwords! If you want to see if a company that you do business with does that, use their 'forgotten password' link. If they email you your password then their system is NOT secure because they are clearly storing it in an unencrypted state. Contact them and make your feelings known about that!

However it would have been more responsible topping out that NOONE will ever ask you by email or text to verify your deatails
